A ship with 36 pounds of fire

Continuing the work of recovery and honors the memory of Blas de Lezo, we have now proposed that this marine legend has a street in the Spanish capital, Madrid.

That unless an avenue!

I have therefore prepared a collection of signatures both on paper and online under this request:

"We ask the Hon. Madrid city council allocation by the name of "Blas de Lezo" one of the vials or places of the city of Madrid.
Blas de Lezo and Olavarrieta born in Passages (Guipuzcoa) on February 3, 1689, was a Spanish admiral who for 40 years participated in 22 fights which always emerged victorious despite suffering horrific mutilations as promptly became tuerto, lame and manco . Its pattern of life is impressive, enormously large and unknown to the majority of Madrid, but stressed about, being a legend for the whole of Europe, the defense of Cartagena de Indias in 1741. In this episode, which finally cost him his life, defeated a British navy of 186 ships and nearly 25000 men, with only 6 ships and 2500 men. This is a surprisingly and unjustly forgotten by history English and Spanish. Blas de Lezo remaining unbeaten died after the battle on September 7, 1741. His brilliant career assured the maritime domain of the Spanish Empire for 60 years. He was one of the best strategists in the history of the Spanish Armada, while one of the greatest unknown ending dying in oblivion ungrateful.
Therefore we ask that meet our request to honor the memory of such illustrious Spanish without which our history and America would have been quite different. "

Already you can sign if they so wish, here. It's all a matter of honoring the life of this forgotten hero.

(the British have always been good propagandists in the world, disregarding others) I'm from Lleida and I would like to have a street named for Spanish hero, not a cocoon fascist named Sabino Arana. It would have to study and assess these more illustrious Spanish at school, at official events, press and TV. It is a pity that the common people do not know who is Blas de Lezo. As important as Colon, El Cid, etc. Pizarro. "Blas de Lezo faces only in 2500 Hobro strong Cartagena de Indias and 4 boats to 25000 Hobro arranged in 184 boats" Trafalgar was much more balanced besides being commanded by a French disastrous as Villenueve.

More than a street, there should be a large square such as exists in London (Trafalgar Square) in honor of Nelson, who only talk about the victories and no defeats of which took, such as the attempted invasion of Canary Islands, where he had lost his arm quite badly and left standing in your company.

In Spain we are very forgetful with celebrities such as this and yet to send ships to "celebrate" the 200 anniversary of the battle of Trafalgar. To say that the rival Lezo, Admiral Vernon, has a plate in, I do not remember how important church, despite the defeat bochornosa which took…

Why can not the directors of Holywood film like "The Gladiator" (Gladiator) with what he did Blas de Lezo?. It would be a very good business

The British expelled the American continent and the French financed with money the Spanish. Then the French boast that it was they who helped them in achieving their independence. Then the yankees us what Rob thanked Cuba, Puerto Rico, the Philippines and the Pacific islands. All for not having a navy in 98 well-prepared. Go disaster rulers, my God.

    A greeting to everyone.

  129. 129
    Rafael Garcia Galeano Says:

I truly regret the embarrassment to put his name as a street to honor this man as we would have honored that make it a place in Madrid with his statue at the top, the style of Nelson in Trafalgar Square (But with greater height. Yet I can not cree que with what this man did not look at the institutes.

Gallardón, we are worth a small street for this man so big, people from the sea we are humble.

  131. 131
    Martin Moya Says:

It was the best sailor who has had the Spanish navy in all its centuries of history, all that did was for his homeland and now their homeland is indebted to him. To put the name of a street is not enough, much more must be done. It would be desirable that all kinds of history is his name that we take pride in everything they did for Spain. We can not forget, I hope that someday see a monument in his honor, that day may rest in peace.

  132. 132
    Felix Jose Rubio Manzanos Says:

An initiative to extend to many more Spanish municipalities. And certainly deserve much more than a second or third street.

  133. 133
    Ester Galeano Asensio Says:

No wonder Blas de Lezo is an unknown to the Spaniards, for some reason that escapes me we are proud of our heroes, while worship the "intellectuals" Now, of course those who are politically correct.

What the plaza with a large statue would be some justice.

To put a street in every city would have to propose this to the various municipalities.

  134. 134
    Elena Says:

What pride to see that civil society has such initiatives and is not aborregada by political correctness, mediocrity, and unreasonableness. What was our big Blas de Lezo. Certainly Spain, in particular goes wrong because these people are in the collective forgetfulness and what is instilled in children is the mental perversion and not honor, glory, the virtue of loving their homeland that gave him so much. Do Then we do not have tension between Spaniards if we erase our past so unfairly? Goyix Thank you for your brilliant work of honoring those who can not listen, you're single and I have no doubt that if the circumstances arose to be the first to represent Spain and fight for it, because in fact you are doing this already. An affectionate greeting! Viva España all present!

  135. 135
    Felix Fco. Ruiz Cabezas Says:

This exceptional seafarer is undoubtedly at the height of Hernan Cortes, Francisco Pizarro or _Cristóbal Columbus. If you were American or English would have already made several movies about him. The Spaniards today we are worthy of heroes of this magnitude.

  160. 160
David José Sanz San José Says:

    esa calle ya…

  161. 161
    Pedro Francisco Anquela Lecuona Says:

    Guillermo Utiel Gutierrez Says:
