Symbols invented by the PNV and Arana
Why the current coat of the Basque Country has a quarter empty? Because the shield was invented by the PNV which provided the headquarters for strings Navarra, which allowed the Constitutional Court but nationalists kept as proof of his claim to Navarre. Why Ikurriña or current flag of the Basque Country is so like the Union Jack of Great Britain? Because it is an invention of the founders of the PNV, the Arana brothers, who betrayed his country even claimed that the Basque were part of the British Empire. I also remember if I'm not mistaken it was used in the Biscayan ships (although that may also encompassed Gipuzkoa and even Cantabria) and recognition teaches the "Biscay Ensign" (do not understand why it is known by an anglicized), it was like Cross of Burgundy but with the colors changed.
Course, inventions Sabino besides being a historical aberration are really painful to see. And something similar happened with that cheesy anthem of the PNV, which exist one that should be to Iparraguirre.

They want to hide the historical truth, the struggles between Basques, their alliances and support for Castile and the Castilian kings, his most faithful population magnificent role as defending the frontiers against the French ..... Hello again, hanging around the net, I discovered the flag referred to George, and in fact sounds like seeing him in any TV image in nationalist demonstrations. It is a black Agulia but not the imperial double-headed (as I thought) you're right George. I can not contribute much on it because I have no knowledge of heraldry, and had never seen in history books.
But I have detected the attempted poisoning of batasuno Pachi-mythologizing Zabaleta on the symbol in question. The real basis, certain, is that it was the shield of several kings of Navarre, including the aforementioned Sancho III the Great, which was considered a Spanish king as we said, but never Basque, there is just paper talk of the kingdom Vasconia, only the delirium itself nationalists makes them look (including the attorney batasuno) a "Basque kingdom."
Therefore it is a symbol in our large Spanish cultural background, which I will not resign, as I have not done with others who have tried to politicize each other (in fact I read that the far right also has demonstrations exibido in Basque, and that is fine to do so, although it has nothing to do with the latter).

The barrels of Guipuzcoa shield unfortunately withdrew because they were a symbol of anti-Navarre. Navarre to hatred of death, so I'm all for the re-make the guns of yore. You have to mark their territory against the enemy. That is why the street would eliminate Bilbao street dedicated to Navarre, name imposed by the fascists when they took Bilbao in June 1937. It is a tribute to the invading hordes of the Fourth Navarre Carlist War (1936-1939), the one they have earned. Regarding Blas de Lezo, died 4 decades before there your rojigualda and century-plus before it should become the flag of Spain, which some modern illustrator seems to have understood (on the cover of a book about his Lezo ship flew a rojigualda). Interestingly, in the French army in a regiment Lezo life that had a flag identical to ikurriña vexed, but it is a mere chance anecdotal.

Moreover, the episode Belate guns is absolutely true, not to mention that nazionalistas play with disastrous results (for the kingdom of Navarre) of the Battle of Noain, assuming that was the key moment of the fall of "Euskal Country "under the thumb of the Spanish. All a farce, since neither "Euskal Herria" there was nothing to assimilate it, Spain did not exist as an entity as we know it today.
Not to mention the undeniable distribution of the forces that were engaged in that battle. On the other side ... Forces Navarre Navarro and frank (of what is now France), on the side ... Forces Castilian Castilian and Basque.

I asked for the name of Blas de Lezo and not ONE had heard the name, is one of shame, is, to desespeane so be it.
It is not entirely true. In the disaster of 1978 gave good name and the flag of a party to a region, therefore, the PNV is believed, as I did in that 78 that the Basque are their exclusive property.
